After 10 years of being an exciting underground Radio Station called Apni Awaaz (Our Voice), we decided in 1999 to call ourselves Radio Asian Fever and started working towards being legalised by broadcasting on the Restricted Service License (RSL). Our aim as before was to serve the South Asian communities of Leeds. Fever FM as now known delivered 9 RSL broadcasts and in October 2005 was awarded a five-year full – time Community radio License by OFCOM, God bless them.

The dream becomes a reality:
1st March 2007 we started our live broadcast and soon became the biggest platform in Leeds. Our aim and objective were to give our listeners a platform to air their views and concerns, while educating, informing and entertaining them. Fever FM serves all South Asian communities in the city, combating under-representation and exclusion from mainstream media. We work across the cultures, faith groups, and their many denominations. Our aim is to bring the whole community together and respect one another by learning from each other.

We broadcast programs in English, Urdu / Hindi, Punjabi, and Mirpuri. Our talk shows, competitions, and phone-ins attract large audiences. From our online service, we have build up a strong listenership from other parts of UK and across the world like Pakistan, India, America, Austria, Middle East, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Canada, Norway, Austria, Germany and many other countries.

As well as working for our audience, Fever FM recruits and train volunteers in presenting skills, technical know-how, IT and life skills. We support and encourage our volunteers (through training, mentoring and supervision) to research, produce and present their own radio shows. Fever FM is also a springboard for local and new talent, two previous young volunteers are now employed by the BBC radio, showing Fever FM's value.......Wow!
